I’m a woman who currently has a full time desk job, had my third child last year at the age of 36, has had a spinal fusion within the past 3 years, is borderline narcoleptic (so they say **snore), and NEVER has any free time to herself!
I have many reasons and obstacles (aka excuses) to not be in shape or healthy, but I choose not to listen to my own excuses. I choose to push my limits, keep lifting the bar, and prove that negative internal voice wrong.
What’s the purpose of life if it’s not to live it to it’s fullest?
Six months have passed since the day I decided it was time to change my lifestyle and get myself healthy again. At the time, I was 7 months post-partum. I had put on a lot of weight with the pregnancy and struggled with a lot of pain throughout the pregnancy because of the extra weight on my back. I gave my body 7 months to heal and decided that 2017 would be the beginning of my lifestyle change. I was done riding the weight rollercoaster and I was done putting my health at risk knowing I have 3 kids who depend on me to be around for a lot longer.
As of today, I have managed to lose 33 pounds without any extreme diets or any prescriptions. My plan has been based on 3 basic principles only; nutrition, exercise, and steps. Not to bad for someone doing it on their own and making sure it’s something they can stick with forever, if I do say so myself!
I haven’t reached my goal yet, but I didn’t get to where I was overnight so I don’t expect to make it to where I want to be overnight either. Again, this is a LIFESTYLE change, not a quick fix. I’ve done the “quick fixes” many times throughout my life, and guess what? They don’t last! Once that crazy diet gets you where you want to be (or breaks the bank first) and you start doing the same things you used to do again, it all comes right back.
Lately, a lot of my friends and family have been interested in what I have been doing to lose weight and get in shape. So I’ve decided to share my journey and tips with everyone in hopes that I can help, or at least inspire, other women to do the same. I’m going to start with the basics of my plan and I will follow up with additional blog posts with more details and updates to continue to not only motivate myself, but also all of you!
