About this site:
As an IT professional, sexual assault & abuse survivor, a mom, a health and fitness coach, and a woman who survived a very difficult divorce and found true love after, I have a lot to say. My blog is about getting information out there that can help parents, abuse survivors, moms, anyone looking to get back in shape and healthy again, women in business, and everyone else that can use some tips from real experience.
About my cause (Standing Up And Moving On)
Do you know what it’s like to be afraid to go home at night? Have you ever experienced how it feels to be forceably deprived of your sleep every night of your life? Do you know how it feels to be on your knees crying and begging the one you love, and who is supposed to love you, to stop hurting you; forcing you to do anything he/she wants you to do by threat of no sleep and fear of what may happen to you, or your children, if you refuse? Do you know what it’s like to be isolated from all of your friends and family and to learn that they have been told horrible lies about you from someone who is supposed to love you? Do you know what it’s like to feel like you are nothing but a piece of meat in the eyes of the one you love? Do you know what it’s like to be used constantly? Have you ever been called stupid, lazy, or even a bitch in front of your own children? Is every tear that comes out of your eyes laughed at by the one you love? Do you know what it’s like to be constantly desecrated and humiliated in front of your children, friends, family, and in public? Have you ever been in a relationship where your spouse/partner accuses you of cheating every time you walk in the door?
I do… And so do many other women & men that are the victims of domestic violence and abuse.
This is why I have created Standing Up And Moving On. I am taking a stand against abuse! I refuse to be a victim any longer. I refuse to let others continue to hurt me and try to control me!
I am a survivor who wants to help others who have been in my situation by providing useful information, inspiration, and support. By doing this, I will not only be helping others, I will be helping myself to continue moving on with my life and slowly putting the past behind me.
I am a proud mother of 3. My baby boy is now 2yrs old, my daughter is 14 and my oldest son is 19. In January of 2013, God opened my eyes to the nightmare I had been living for the past 15 years and told me that it was time to get out. At that point, I decided it was time to make a change. I had to stand up for myself and for my children. I had to move on.
I am a writer. I have written for many newspapers and provided my assistance for many speeches. I am currently working on my first book. I hope to become a published author one day.
I am also a health and fitness coach. I work hard every day to help others with their health and fitness journeys while also working on my own. I believe in lifestyle change; no quick fixes!
I was born and raised in SC and still reside in this wonderful state. I have a Masters of Science degree in Management of Information Systems. I am a Guardian Ad Litem for our local CASA. I am also a proud CWP holder. I have been with the same company now for the past 13 years. I have had many jobs over my lifetime; teller, E911 database manager, waitress, customer service representative, mainframe application developer, IT project manager, IT client manager, Information Systems Risk Analyst, etc.
If you wish to know me better, please read my blog and don’t hesitate to contact me.
